OmegaComp HR is proud the proud recipient of the Sacramento Breastfeeding Coalition’s Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace Award.
This year in May, Senator Pan hosted the Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace Awards in collaboration with the California Breastfeeding Coalition and the Sacramento Breastfeeding Coalition to recognize businesses that have successfully addressed workplace barriers for breastfeeding mothers. “Breastfeeding is one of the best preventative health measures for both babies and mothers,” said Dr. Pan, a pediatrician and State Senator representing the 6th District. “It is my pleasure to honor businesses that do their part and create breastfeeding policies to ensure that mothers can breastfeed longer.”
The California Breastfeeding Coalition recognizes businesses for their exemplary efforts to support lactating employees by creating breastfeeding policies, ensuring all staff are aware of their polices and talking with expectant mothers about accommodating their breastfeeding needs when they return to work. These criteria ensure compliance with existing California and Federal laws requiring employers to provide time and space for employees who want to express their milk.
Studies show that breastfeeding mothers who are supported in the workplace take fewer sick days and have higher retention rates, which is good for employee morale and for businesses’ bottom line.
“It really is a no brainer. When our employees feel supported, they in turn support our workplace, our mission and our clients,” said David Allman, CEO. “It’s very important to help our staff and their babies in order to promote happy, healthy families, reduced absenteeism, and ensure a supportive and successful workplace.”
